Irvin Joelar Garcia Aradanas

Undergraduate Student

Irvin is a third-year undergraduate student in the Biological Sciences Honours Program at the University of Calgary. He joined the lab in January 2026 and he aims to further develop his interest in science, particularly in virology. He is working toward building a strong research and academic foundation in preparation for his honours thesis. As part of his pursuit of developing his skills in the Gregory Lab, Irvin will focus on isolating bacteriophages that infect Bifidobacterium from the human gut and applying additional laboratory techniques. In the future, he hopes to pursue medical school. Outside the laboratory, Irvin enjoys long-distance running, going to the gym, swimming, listening to music, and spending his spare time volunteering at the hospital.
