Harland Ammentorp

Master's Student

Harland is from Guelph, Ontario, Canada and graduated with Honours from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor's degree in Zoology and Geography. His undergraduate research project explored the relationship between body mass and population abundance variability in birds. Harland then headed west to pursue his Master's degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary, starting in spring 2025. In the Gregory Lab, Harland is studying ancient viruses emerging from Alaskan glacial melt, delving into their genetic diversity, potential public health implications, and effects on fisheries. When not in the lab, Harland enjoys outdoor activities like camping and skiing, as well as cooking.
