Hong Anh Tran

Master's Student

Anh completed her BSc in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology with First Class Honours and a minor in Bioinformatics at the University of Calgary in 2024. She has a strong background in bioinformatic pipelines for metagenomic and metatranscriptomic analysis and is confident in statistical work using R. In her honours project, she focused on exploring how antibiotic treatment affects the gut microbiome in infants using metagenomic data. This experience sparked her interest in host-microbe interactions, which she is now continuing in the Gregory Lab, studying how the human immune system shapes gut microbial communities for her Master’s thesis. Anh looks forward to continuing her work as a PhD student  in the future. Outside the lab, she enjoys hiking, puzzle games, language learning, and films.
